UltraShield AC 14 is suitable for both interior and exterior applications for use as a Waterproofing and Protective coating of the following structures:
- Exposed concrete roofs both flat and sloped
- Terraces, balconies, domes and patios
- Metal profile roofs and asbestos roofs
- Corrugated metal sheets and plastered surfaces
- Polyurethane foam insulation
- Tunnels, underpasses & concrete bridge decks
UltraShield AC 14 is also used as an anti-carbonation protective coating to exposed concrete structures such as car park decks, etc.
- Application Procedure
Surface Preparation: The substrate on which the coating will be applied has to be cleaned thoroughly of all contaminants which may affect the adhesion. This can be done by grit blasting or at least using a wire brush rigorously. All major repair works needs to be carried out with a suitable repair material prior to the application.
Priming: Apply a primer coat, primarily on the vertical surfaces, using a brush or roller to seal the pores and stabilize the surface by diluting UltraShield AC 14 with water (1:1 ratio). This will help in boosting adhesion for the top coat. Primer application should be done at a coverage rate of 5m2/l. Allow the primer to become tacky (approximately 30 minutes at
23°c 50% RH) prior to the application of the top coat. UltraShield AC 14 can be applied directly on to the horizontal surfaces without primer, given that the recommended surface
preparation has been carried out.
Mixing: To ensure a homogenous mix, it is recommended to mix the contents of the pail prior to the application, to remove any sediments which may have occurred during storage. A paddle mixer can be used for mixing.
Application: Apply each coat of UltraShield AC 14 at a coverage rate of 1.5 kg/m2 to attain a Dry Film Thickness of 0.75mm. A total of 1.5mm thickness will be achieved in two coats.
For best results, apply the coating with a brush or a roller. Corners and joints shall be treated with a fibre mesh to provide added strength to the applied coating. This mesh shall be applied immediately on the 1st coat whilst it is still wet. The application of the second coat shall be carried out after the first coat dries off completely.
Curing: The coating shall be cured fully for 7 days to achieve its full mechanical properties.
