Applications & Uses
- Application Area
- Compatible Substrates & Surfaces
- Coverage
Approximately 136-222 sq. ft. per 2.58 gallon pail (12.6-20.6 m2 per 9.77 L). Coverage will vary with the type of synthetic turf field covering and job conditions. Determine recommended trowel size based on floor covering type.
Trowel Recommendations Floor Covering Type Trowel Heavy textured backing 1⁄4" x 1⁄4" x 1⁄4" (6 x 6 x 6 mm)
square notched trowelSmooth or Attached Cushion backing 1⁄8" x 1⁄8" x 1⁄8" (3 x 3 x 3 mm)
square notch- Suitable Substrates
- Polyester fiber seam tape (TEC Seam Tape F, TEC Seam Tape FL or manufacturer recommended seaming tape)
- Limitations Information
- The temperature of adhesive, environment, field base and synthetic turf field covering should be between 59°F and 84°F (15°C and 29°C).
- The relative air humidity should not exceed 80%.
- Lower temperatures negatively influence the consistency of the adhesive, thus prolonging the curing time.
- Higher temperatures cause the adhesive to be more liquid, thus a higher quantity of adhesive may be required.
- Higher temperatures shorten the adhesive pot life and application time.
- Adhesive should not be applied in wet, raining and misty conditions.
- Installation Instructions
Surface Preparation
Subfloor: The sport field base must be load-bearing and suitable as sports grounds without any defects. The sport field base must be equipped with proper drainage and must be solid and firm according to the relevant requirements.
Substrate: The substrate must comply with the synthetic turf manufactures standards and regulations for the type and intended use.
Mixing
A twin volume pail containing the hardener and the PU adhesive guarantees a safe, speedy and clean preparation of the adhesive. Parts A and B are packaged with the exact quantity and ratio required for mixing.
- Open top section and remove the Part B bottle.
- Pour the Part B into the pail Part A.
- Use a low-speed electric drill (<300 rpm) and mix thoroughly (not less than 3 minutes) to a smooth, homogeneous mixture.
Notes
- Do not use or apply those parts of the adhesive which may have stuck to the edges when mixed. It may be better to pour the mixture into a clean bucket and stir again.
- Mix only the amount of adhesive which can be applied within approximately 90 minutes.
- Higher temperatures accelerate the hardening of the mixture, lower temperatures delay it.
Application
- Install synthetic turf floor covering following all manufacturer guidelines.
- TEC® 149 is applied to polyester fiber seam tape (TEC Seam Tape F, TEC Seam Tape FL or manufacturer recommended seaming tape). The amount of adhesive to be applied will depend on the backing structure of the synthetic turf field covering.
- Adhesive is spread evenly over the seam tape/scrim using the recommended notched trowel or application method (see manufacturer’s guidelines for suggested application methods and trowel recommendations).
- Synthetic turf field covering can be installed onto the adhesive immediately after application and should be installed within, approximately 90 minutes of initial application. The actual open or installation time will vary depending on the environmental temperature, air humidity and field base temperature. If the synthetic turf field covering is installed more than 90 minutes after adhesive application, the bonding power cannot be guaranteed.
- Adhesive transfer should be checked periodically by lifting the synthetic turf field covering.
- Immediately after installation, the seams should be rolled or rubbed.
- The same procedures apply to the installation of line markings and logos.
Clean-up
- Clean tools after use with turpentine. Hardened adhesive on tools must be mechanically removed.
