Uses : FLX 550 provides a self-levelling, cementitious underlay for a wide variety of floor finishes which require a smooth level substrate, such as Carpeting, Vinyl sheeting, Linoleum flooring and Rubber sheets.
Application Procedure : Surface Preparation: It is vital that the surface must be cleaned thoroughly of all contaminants which may affect the bonding. Surface must be free from oil, grease, paints, dirt, dust, loose particles, etc. This can be done by grit blasting or mechanical grinding of the concrete floor, lightly. After cleaning, remove any leftover debris. New concrete surfaces should be cured at least 21 days prior to application. Large cracks and holes may be filled with a suitable repair mortar prior to the application, to ensure a good bond. EniPoxy BF (epoxy resin-based repair putty and mortar) can be used to repair minor imperfections, cracks and blow holes. Priming: Prior to application, substrates must be primed/sealed using FLX 530 dispersion primer. Mixing: FLX 550 should be mixed with a using low speed electric mixer fitted with a purpose made paddle. Mix for approximate 300 to 400 rpm for 3 minutes or until the mix is free of lumps. Each 25 kg bag of FLX 550 requires the addition of 5.25 -5.50 litres of water to produce a free-flowing self-levelling consistency. Application: Pour the mixed material onto the primed substrate, spread with a trowel or squeegee and allow to self-level. The material must then be rolled with a spike roller to achieve air release and final levelling. Rolling must be done immediately after placing the material. Do not attempt to float the setting surface. The required thickness must be achieved in one application. Also, the best results are achieved when the pouring and levelling is a continuous process until the designated area is completed. Good site organization is essential. Consumption: Approximate material consumption 1.60 kg/m2 @ 1mm thickness. Material consumption may vary depending on the profile of the substrate. Precaution: Application should not commence if the temperature of the substrate is below 10o C. Freshly laid FLX 550 should be protected from direct sunlight and/or strong drying winds until the material is hard (minimum of 24 hours).
Clean-Up : Clean with warm water and soap when wet. Mineral spirit, when dry.
