Surface preparation
- All surfaces should be clean, dry, and free from frost, grease, and loose materials.
- When cleaning contaminated substrates, HS Butyl recommends using propan-2-ol (IPA) and allowing it to dry before applying the butyl tape.
Application
- Apply directly from the reel onto one surface and press along its entire length to ensure good initial adhesion.
- Remove the backing film, position the other surface onto the butyl tape, and push firmly to seal across the joint.
- Use a roller with firm pressure to roll the joint and ensure a good bond.
