Applications & Uses

Application Instructions

Surface preparation:

  • All surfaces should be clean, dry, and free from frost, grease, and loose materials.
  • When cleaning contaminated substrates, HS Butyl recommends using propan-2-ol (IPA) and allowing it to dry before applying the butyl tape.

Application:

  • Apply directly from the reel onto one surface and press along its entire length to ensure good initial adhesion.
  • Remove the backing paper, position the other surface onto the butyl tape, and push firmly to seal across the joint.
  • When applying from drums, use a drum pump heated to 140-160°C, for good flow, a gear pump is the best solution.
Product Application
  • For sealing lap joints in roofing and cladding systems.
  • For sound deadening applications, particularly in vehicle construction.
  • For use as an air, dust, or water seal for compression joints and seams.
  • For use as a water seal in various caravan construction applications.
  • For sealing duct flanges in HVAC systems.
